Meshiaak return with their blistering second album ‘Mask Of All Misery,’ which will be released on 15 November, via Mascot Records.
It has been three years since the Australian quartet’s debut album ‘Alliance of Thieves’ dropped, which married dark undertones, heavy grooves and sophistication whilst retaining old-school metal values. Upon its release Metal Hammer applauded its “modern power/thrash metal attack,” Powerplay exclaimed that the album “bludgeons and berates the senses with incredible precision and astounding musicianship” and Classic Rock revelled in the “mix of brooding progressive metal and heavy rock.”

So, it’s no surprise then, that the band are back to continue the story and have a new member and renewed energy. Formed in Melbourne, by 4ARM’s Danny Camilleri and Teramaze’s Dean Wells with bassist Andrew Cameron, they have recruited drummer David Godfrey who replaces Jon Dette, following his departure due to logistical reasons with him being based in the US and the rest of the band in Australia.

‘Mask Of All Misery’ is an album that journey’s through a maze of toxic influences and the masks the exponents wear. “The album deals with a lot of personal reflection and issues as well as attacking or addressing much broader issues concerning perhaps the ignorance of society in regards to what’s going on around us all,” explains Camilleri.

    Meet Meshiaak

Meshiaak is a four-piece metal band hailing from Melbourne, Australia. Our sound is heavy, shaded with dark undertones and deep grooves, and it holds tight to the old-school values that first drew us to metal — riffs that land hard, songs that stick with you, and a live set that gives everything.

    Our Story So Far

It all started with Danny Camilleri (4ARM) and Dean Wells (Teramaze), later joined by bassist Andrew Cameron. Three years ago our debut, Alliance of Thieves, landed and established the blueprint: modern power and thrash metal with progressive ambition, rooted in heavy rock. Metal Hammer described it as a “modern power/thrash metal attack.” Powerplay wrote that it “bludgeons and berates the senses with incredible precision and astounding musicianship.” Classic Rock heard “a mix of brooding progressive metal and heavy rock.” That record made us proud — and we were only getting started.

Since then, drummer David Godfrey has joined the lineup after Jon Dette stepped away for logistical reasons — Jon lives in the US while the rest of us are in Australia. David has brought fresh energy and a new dynamic, and the band is stronger for it.

    Mask Of All Misery

Our second album, Mask Of All Misery, arrives on 15 November through Mascot Records, available on CD, digital and 180-gram red vinyl. The record travels through a maze of toxic influences and the masks the people behind them wear. In Danny’s words, it deals with plenty of personal reflection and issues, while also taking on much wider concerns — perhaps the ignorance of society toward what is happening all around us.

It is an album from four people who still believe in the album as a form, and who wanted every song to land as hard through a stereo as it does in a room.

    What We Do

    Who We’re For

Meshiaak is for anyone who has ever found something honest in a heavy riff — the lifelong metal fans, the vinyl collectors, the ones who read the liner notes and argue about the mix. You are why we make these records, and we are glad you are here.

Mask Of All Misery is out 15 November. Grab your copy or stream it, and stay close — there is more to come.
